Ian Lawman hails from a normal working class family, but broke from following a traditional career path at the tender age of 16, when he became a top dancer and Fashion model. His modeling won him the accolade of being the Face of 97.
Ian went to dance school from the age of seven and at the same time went to martial arts classes to help build up his strength which would help when lifting girls. However, what Ian didn’t realise that instructor Tony Grey saw something in Ian that you only come across a few times in your lifetime. “Ian is a person that has no fear and was happy in fighting boys ten years his senior, Ian had a natural ability to punch, kick and think at the same time that made him unique”.By the age of sixteen Ian had trained in dance and also became a black belt in two martial arts, later becoming a master in three, making Ian a supple fighting machine.
The bright lights of London beckoned Ian into a full dancing career but only to be cut short after the sudden death of his sister at 24 years of age in a road traffic accident. Ian had already lost his best friend; Paul at the age of 15, so the bright lights were turned off only to lead Ian into the life of sex, drugs and rock and roll.
He decided to move down to Bournemouth and soon became head door attendant in a well-known nightclub, a local haunt for Royal Marines, which was trouble from the start. Ian soon gained respect as he won 26 fights in 28 at the camp, becoming a hit with the soldiers as a street fighter. News travelled fast and Ian was head hunted by a top celebrity 'members' only club.
Later, after many years of fighting his natural abilities, Ian succumbed to his role as a gifted Psychic. He is now a well-known figure in the world of the unknown and paranormal.
"The biggest decision I've ever had to make in my whole career so far, has to be back in 2002, telling the world I'd been talking to the dead Kray twins. For two years they'd kept me awake and altered my whole life, so how would people and especially the press react?! I still needed to have a career at the end of all this.
It's hard enough telling people you're a Psychic at the best of times, never mind saying "I'm living and talking to the Kray twins day and night".
With the right press and a good contact in the Kray twins' life I was happy to talk, so my journey was about to begin.
I decided to contact the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph and they revealed to the world what was happening. After only a week I was contacted by a man called Jamie Rae, who was promoting a show for Dave Courtney.
I was told Dave Courtney needed to meet me, not asked, told! - This from the man who arranged Ronnie Kray’s funeral, I couldn't really say no, could I, so I agreed. A week later it was arranged to have a trip down to London to meet Dave. It was a strange feeling, this man was a gangster who had done time and worked for the Krays. Life is strange when you want something you never get it, and when you get it you never wanted it, my vibes were that Dave was a nice guy, but the legend that is Dave Courtney unnerved me.
I arrived; I was now stepping foot into the house of one of the most feared men in the underworld. I stared with open mouth just glaring at all the photos and artefacts inside the house; I was told "Dave will be down in a minute". That was the longest minute I have ever had to wait, I'll tell you. All I could hear was Dave singing, "Row row row your boat" and that was supposed to comfort me I thought! All I could think of was concrete boots and the Thames, and then it was revealed when Dave Courtney walked round the corner smiling and laughing and explained his daughter couldn't sleep, I was very relieved.
Dave Courtney was a man with power, it was strange that this man now wanted to hear my side of the Kray twins story; he sat, listened and never said a word! On my return to the sitting room after a restroom visit, I asked what Dave really thought of me. Then I thought did I really what to know? But it was too late the question was asked, "Well" Jamie replied (who had brought me here) "he thinks you’re OK, and you don't look stupid enough to lie to him". Well I suppose that was meant to be taken as a compliment, I think.
After spending more time with Dave, I was starting to feel more relaxed in his presence. Later that day he was going on a TV shoot which he invited us to tag along to. I couldn't help but notice Dave's phone kept ringing constantly, which prompted me to say "do you ever get fed up with the phone ?", he replied "these people ringing have done time, been shot and been beaten black & blue for me. So why should I turn my back on them now?” That’s the good side of Dave; he seemed a very loyal friend to have around.
On the way to the TV show we travelled in style by a chauffeur driven limo. I started to relax, so I thought it was time to try and tune in to Dave's spirit friends. The messages were coming loud and strong. Dave looked straight at me; it was like he knew I was going to say something.
I looked straight back and said "Dave I have your Dad here". "Go on" he said not giving anything away; I then passed on what Dave's Father had to say. Then suddenly a message from the Kray twins themselves came through, this was unreal, the spirits of Ronnie and Reggie Kray, with Dave Courtney and myself all in the same car. After a moment’s hesitation, I passed the message on from the Kray twins to Dave. He then said angrily "How do you know that? I'm the only person who knows!"
"Stop the bloody car," yelled Dave and I thought OH S*** this is it. I had just hit Dave Courtney with some messages that no one could have known about in any shape or form and for once in a long time Dave Courtney was left speechless for a moment. He continued to stare straight at me with those menacing eyes, and then spoke very quietly and directly to me "No one could know a F****** thing like that unless it’s......" and then silence all the way to the TV show (it was as though Dave was thinking what to do next). Later he grabbed my arm and said "Never repeat what you've just told me, but…you were bloody right and F****** scary, and then he laughed, slapped me on the back and sauntered off, leaving ME absolutely speechless!
From that moment on, Dave treated me differently; it was like he now understood where I was coming from, the TV show went well and he even told the film crew about me. On the way back to Dave's house he took me for a beer or ten, with a few games of pool thrown in.
My day was drawing to a close with Dave, the next time I would meet him would be at my house for a press release on the day before his big show. It's a time I'll never forget and another thing, after meeting this man I realised he was an honourable man to his friends, with a past that will live on in history books, for the right or wrong reasons. Dave Courtney should be given a chance to express his feelings, and let his past stay where it is; after all, we can change our futures after learning from our pasts.
Ian has since met up with the USA Mafia to talk about talking to the dead Kray twins and is now a well-protected man.
Ian’s work in 2004 went much more public with his appearances on ‘I’m Famous and Frightened 1, 3 and 4’ in which Ian was screened holding the World's first ever live Séance and the World’s first live Ouija board session. Ian has also worked on ‘Most Haunted’ and the all new show ‘Living with the Dead’ and has many other well known TV shows under his belt.
Ian now also writes for top magazine, Prediction, which has even gained him fans in traditionally sceptic circles, who he has great respect for, and is the only Psychic to be happy to chat to badpsychics.com website.
2009 will also set Ian into the lime light again as he embarks on a three year tour deal around the UK. Please check Tour Dates for more info.
